I have heard that, at this location, in 1903, tensions between cattlemen and sheep ranchers came to a head, men snuck into the Kurtis Sheep Ranch at night and killed over 900 sheep with clubs, burning the carcasses to ensure they were worthless.
Came across the strangest little old west town along HWY-20, like AGGRESSIVELY old west (but still really neat) seems like a perfect place to stop and the sun is going down anyway. I brought the tent but no idea where to go or what to do so I give in and fine a cheap motel room.
This is the Washington Pass along Highway 20, there’s a really nice lookout spot with a little walking loop, possibly the most beautiful mountain view I have ever seen.
